So was its first training program. In the past the FHP conducted recruit training in Bradenton, Panama City, a U.S. Air Force Base in Kissimmee, Eglin A.F.B. in Fort Walton Beach, and in Tallahassee.

The academy in use today is located at the Pat Thomas Law Enforcement Academy, Havana, FL. The academy moved to its present location in November, 2005.
